Dinner Dance
Well done to all who contributed and attended the Dinner Dance Presentation on Saturday last in the Four Seasons. Chairperson, Brian McPhillips , took charge of his inaugural Club event which, everybody agreed, was well planned and executed. A terrific crowd on the night watched on as we paid homage to the Mens Championship Team of 2021 and the Ladies Championship Team of 2020. Congratulations to James Clerkin who was voted by his peers as the player of the year for 2021. Also, Fionnuala McElvaney and Aoibhinn Clerkin who were the Ladies choices for 2020 and 2021 respectively. All our newly weds and retirees were acknowledged on the night. Cathaoirleach Coiste Chontae Mhuineachain, Declan Flanagan, addressed the club members and complimented everybody on the work done. Thanks to Brendan Casey, Vice Chairperson of Monaghan County Board and Club member , who was on hand to present the championship medals. Senior Team Manager, Gary Larkin, who, in a rousing oration, outlined what was good and great about the teams and the Club. Finally a special word of thanks to our Master of Ceremonies on the night, Brendan Finan. Brendan answered a very late call to fill in when our Club Secretary, Fergal Ward was unavailable. Brendan, who’s normal shy and retiring personality, flourished on the night as he had the crowd and players in the palm of his hand. Hopefully the event will be repeated again next year with more silverware to celebrate.
U13’s
Great to see the 13’s back out in the Spring League. This non-competitive competition gives the players the opportunity to develop their skills ahead of their scheduled divisional league. The lads travelled to Eire Og and put in an admirable performance. They are back at home on Saturday to play Currin at 12 noon.
