Bingo at Seans
Another great week for Bingo as we crossed the threshold of having paid out over €200,000 in prizes since we began. Next week, Monday 20th December will be our final bingo for 2021 but we will be resuming on Monday the 3rd of January… with a BANG!!! This week our main jackpot wasn’t won so it will be €12900 next week. We will still have a jackpot on every page, plus all the regular line prizes, BUT… if none of the €1000 jackpots are won we will give away a grand on the last page for Christmas. Our generosity knows no bounds and we will also have a free draw, in the run in to Christmas, where all weekly players will automatically be entered for two tickets each week for the Monaghan GAA ‘ win a home in Lanzarote’. Get in early and secure your book for next week. Follow all our free promotional offers on our social media pages. Get in early and get your books. If you have any queries, please message us on Facebook, Instagram etc, and we will assist in every way possible. Good luck and remember in playing bingo at home everybody stays safe.
Ulster Junior Club Championship
Our Ulster adventure came to a juddering unplanned stop in a rain soaked Ederney on Saturday afternoon. Downings can claim the victory but only after the Seans had two dismissals from the field of play. In, what only could be described as a poor schoolboy error of an official’s judgement, Niall Kearns received a straight red card midway through the first half. In an incident that not one of the six hundred plus supporters, two linesmen and the referee had seen, one of the umpires had an almost evangelistic vision of foul play which determined Niall’s fate and ultimate departure. Downings surely must have thought Christmas had come early and were looking skyward to see if there was a man with a white beard and sleigh overhead as Monaghan GAA’s Junior Player of the Year exited the stage. However, this set back, refocused the Seans and they put their shoulders to the wheel and continued to dominate with the lions share of the possession that gave them a one point lead at half time. The second period began as we left off with, the ultra defensive Downings, parking the bus, cars and Santys sleigh while sitting back waiting for the break. Scores were exchanged , although it became tedious at times trying to move the bus and accessories with fourteen men. Our numerical deficit was only to get worse, as our official in the middle, deemed it necessary to also dismiss Pearce Murphy. That asides, our warriors that remained and the subs that were introduced gave it every effort possible and kept the scoreboard level with four additional minutes being played. Downings managed a steal into the Seans half and a soft free put them in front. Our heads and legs were now weary and fatigued which left a gap in the back door and a half goal chance was converted. Game over, and we had been evicted from the competition in an unpalatable manner. When the dust gets a chance to settle, and we have run out of expletives, we will still maintain our innocence and stand by our men. We can only applaud the team and the management for their dedication and commitment, on the day, and through out this year. Do not forget we have written a new chapter in the club’s history as we captured the Junior Championship that had successfully eluded us for thirty years. This is what will be remembered for 2021 and not the day in pouring rain in Ederney and an over enthusiastic end line official. Our Club will stand tall as the Junior Championship winners, we will celebrate the good times served up by the management and their band of devoted players and savour the memories of their expedition into the Ulster Championship arena. A well earned break is now on the cards, maybe plan for the dizzy heights of Intermediate Football for 2022 and more silverware for engraving. Seans Abu.
Monaghan GAA Junior Allstar Team 2021
A hearty congratulations to Mark Keogh, James Clerkin, James Murphy, Conor Kearns, Paraic McGuirk, Niall Kearns, Oisin McKenna and Adam O Driscoll who were all selected on this years Junior Allstar Team. A spectacular numerical representation by the Club and deservedly so. We also had a worthy winner of Player of the Year in Niall Kearns. Niall is an example of a player that others will strive to copy and emulate. Well done to all.
