Junior Football League
The Junior Championship kicks off on Saturday with an away game against old rivals Aghabog. The game throws in at 6.30pm and , no doubt in true championship style, it will be a screamer.
Juveniles
Our gallant U15 squad headed to a rain-soaked pitch in Drumhowan on Saturday to take on Aughnamullen in the Division 3 League final. To say that our opposition was in a different league would not be an exaggeration, and maybe they should’ve been. Our lads started brightly and points were exchanged up and until the first water break. However in the second period of the half Aughnamullen intensified their approached and we shifted some heavy hits and big scores. The half time whistle could not come quick enough as we were now in a deficit of twenty points. As we regrouped the resolve and determination of the boys was inspirational and the ‘teak tough never say die’ attitude began to pour out on the side lines. The game resumed and we began to get some flow to our play, albeit in a stop start whistle blowing fashion. Some persistent infringements reduced Aughnamullen to ten players with a red card . However it wasn’t long before the officialdom seen it necessary to even up the numbers when a Seans player received a black. Undeterred, we continued to battle the conditions and tagged on some unbelievable scores. Although we had racked up 1-13 to Aughnamullen’s 1-03 in the second half it just wasn’t enough and defeat was imminent . Fair play to the lads for their dogged attitude right to the final whistle. To the team and mentors we salute your passion and pride for your club. The result was immaterial in the end, and we hope that they can build on their second half performance for the championship. A big thanks to our supporters who endured the torrential downpours but remained to cheer them on.
The U13’s take on Doohamlet on Saturday at home. Throw in is 12 noon and we wish well in this the semi final of the shield. Please come along and support them.
