Reserves
Our reserve team have had a tough busy week as they started their league campaign away to Emyvale. This was a very physical opening game and Emyvale dominated in all areas. With a number of new faces stepping up from other teams, it was a baptism of fire and Emyvale ran out comprehensive winners in the end. Round two of the league was a home match against Inniskeen on Saturday evening. Once again the physicality of the teams involved in the league was a telling factor in the result. The visitors laid their stall out early and we were playing catch up from there on. While the going was tough , the lads showed flashes of their potential and picked off some nice scores. However, the lead was not recoverable and Inniskeen were the victors at the final whistle. We wish Marty McGuirk a speedy recovery following his injury during the game.
U7’s / U11’s
Well done to the Sean Ogs U7’s who travelled to their maiden blitz in Monaghan Harps last Saturday morning. With all the Mammies and Daddies probably more excited than the kids, the youngsters played their hearts out and enjoyed the mornings fun. Our U11 squad travelled to Aghabog in their first round game of their competition. This is a developmental league and encourages players to show their talent and improve their skills. Well done to the players and coaches who performed really well on the day.
U13’s / U15 / U17
The first U15 league game took place last Thursday night at home to Cremartin. In a tight affair there was nothing between the teams the whole way through. The visitors did get ahead by two points in the closing minutes of the game but the lads dug deep and recused the win with a goal and point in the last three minutes to secure the win. On Saturday morning the U13’s travelled to Ballybay for their first encounter of the league. Never an easy place to win , the team stuck to their task well and dominated the game for large periods through out. However a resurgence by the home team left the lads fighting for the game in the closing stages. Ballybay hit the front late on and it took a last minute point to bring the Seans all square , 4-10 to 4-10. Finally the Seans na Mullai played their second league game on Monday night against Tyholland. Once again the team displayed great skill and character from the off. They went in front, and although they did wobble midway through both halves, they stood up strong and closed out a fiercely competitive encounter to give them two victories from their two games.
