Junior Championship Final

This was to be the day of our crowning glory, however records will now state that it did not happen. The match report will detail scores and the missed opportunities on both sides but it will not reflect the sacrifices, commitment and dedication of every player, the management and the back room people involved. In a short season, the team and mentors created a bond which drove them to reaching the final, in itself a creditable achievement. As someone once said , “ what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. This old quip can sometimes be overplayed as cold comfort in the aftermath of a final defeat, but in this case the team firmly believes it. The heartiest of congratulations to Aughnamullen and their deserved win on the day. They displayed their talents to the maximum level and to which we just had no answer. The team and management will take time to reflect now and plan for the next step for next season. The Club Executive would like to commend Gary Larkin, Mickey McMahon, Niall McGuirk and Conor McElvaney for their professional approach and enthusiasm to managing the team during the season. To the players, the Committee would like to compliment them on their performances on and off the field as the represented the club with pride and dignity and they have no doubt that they will return stronger from this to contest all competitions in 2021.

Get Well Soon

Amidst the whole clamor of Saturdays game , Ashley Maguire was a forced substitution due to injury during the game. He was carried to the sideline and sat nursing a nasty injury for the duration. It now appears that the damage has been quite severe and will require medical attention and substantial recovery. Ashley is a seriously dedicated player and committee member and we wish him the speedy return to full fitness.

Juveniles

Our U11’s collected a little bit of silverware last Friday night as they were victorious over Rockcorry in the Bosco Carroll Memorial Cup. The Rockcorry club kindly invited us to take part in the game and play in this annual competition. The Seans club would sincerely like to thank the Carroll Family for organising this and the presentation of the medals and refreshments on the night for all the children. It was a ding dust game where although the Seans took a commanding lead , Rockcorry battled hard and finished very strong, only to be two points short of victory. Our wee team played with great skill and determination which got them over the line in the end. Well done to Enda Murphy and his crew of coaches who have worked tirelessly with this team in the absence of the regular Go Game Blitzes.

Our U15 squad head to Tyholland on Saturday morning for the semi final of the Division 3 shield. In a tough season, the team has struggled to get results however this does not reflect the effort that they and their mentors have put into training and preparation. We wish them all the best and hopefully a place in the final awaits them.
