Junior Championship Rd.1
Our championship got off to a winning start on Saturday evening last with a solid performance against our rivals and neighbours Aghabog. With the Covid regulations kicking in, our numbers were limited to what would normally have been a sell out show. That asides, those who were there and others who watched from afar, surely enjoyed the game. In a tight first half , the Seans edged a five point lead at the break with Niall Kearns, Noel Rice and Ashley Maguire all making their mark. The second half started well with a cracking goal from James Treanor and this was quickly followed by second from Paraic McGuirk. With strong performances all over the pitch from backs and forwards alike it closed out the game albeit that Aghabog didn’t give up the challenge and left their marks all over the game in the end. A third goal from Pat Kieran late on left the game on a closing score line of 3-11 to 0-6 and gives us a good boost heading to round two in Oram on Sunday evening. A big thank you to our match day sponsors of Sales Plus, Eamon & Michael Michael McElroy, and Gary Larkin and his crew at Monbatt Ltd. The support of these local industries is vital to the club and it is much appreciated.
Juveniles
Our U15’s played hosts to Latton in their opening game of the Division 3 championship on Thursday last. This was a major step up for the team with the visitors much more robust and physical . A battling performance was never going to be enough against this opposition and they ran away with the points for round one with relative ease. Its back to the drawing board and an away fixture with Aughnamullen on Thursday evening.
The U13 players took to St Tiernachs park on Saturday morning for their second game in the Championship against Clones. They once again got the wheels going in their well oiled machine and took their opportunities when they came along. Tireless defending and good distribution of passes brought about some great scores. It ended in a great win for the Seans and two wins from two games. Next up is Killanny , at home , on Saturday at 12 noon
