Senior Mens League
Our league campaign came to an abrupt halt on Saturday evening, as we were defeated by Scotstown in the final round of the competition. In a confident start, we pushed in front by four points, but a quick burst of scores from the home team and we were on the back foot. Down by six points at the break, there was still hope, but on resumption, we struggled to penetrate with any real meaning. Scotstown were able to nurse the victory over the line, and we couldn’t get close. A disappointing end to the league, which promised so much but failed to deliver. Our attention will now be focused on the Championship, with our first outing at home, against Aghabog on the weekend of the 9th of August.

U16 Div. 3 Shield Final
What a game we had on Friday evening as we took on Scotstown in the Shield Final. Having a small squad all year, we had played thirteen-a-side for most games, which afforded us the luxury of two subs. However, we were required to field fifteen players on the night, leaving us with one player in reserve and facing a squad of twenty-six. Undeterred by the numerical difference, our young management team stuck to their plans and gave their players the belief that they could overcome anything on the pitch. Our hardy band of individuals gave it their all for sixty-plus minutes and never gave up the ghost, scoring two pointers and goals with great skill and accuracy. Despite some of them being injured and all of them out on their feet, we just couldn’t get the luck break to conclude the game. Scotstown won by 2-16 to 2-13 in the end, and we had left all we had on the pitch at full time. The team were devastated at the defeat; however, the Club could not be more proud of them and their management on the dignified way they accepted result and how they played. They now have the championship to look forward to, and we hope that they can go one step further and secure the silverware they deserve.
