Lighting our Future

The fundraisers are now on the road so all members can expect a friendly visit from our canvassing teams in the coming weeks. We are asking the members and friends to contribute €240 towards the future development within the club. In return for the donation , your name will be inscribed on a new granite plaque which will be located in a prominent position at the Complex building. This will be in full view for all to see on arrival to the club and for future generations. The payment can be paid upfront or split payments over 12 months. We now have a link on our Clubzap App which allows you to go online for this. However, we will have members calling and our brochure has a QR code which can be scanned for payment. We are also offering some terrific contributor prizes on the day the plague is unveiled. These will include , Two All Ireland Hurling and Football tickets with overnight stays in Dublin and an Indulgent Spa getaway among other prizes. Junior Football League

An early throw in Blackhill on Saturday last was the venue for our away tie with Oram. Coming from a win last week, we had hoped that confidence would be on the rise. However, from the start, this was a dogged and dreary affair and not for the purist. A typical junior league game with neither side taking control in the first period. Points were exchanged and there was nothing between them at the break. At the restart, the introduction of subs, livened up our attack but an unexpected turnover of play led to Oram rattling our net early on. We were now playing catch up and spurned to work harder and engineer scores through a packed out defence. To our credit, we stuck to the task and scores from play, frees and a fly keeper slowly but surely pulled us level. Once again it was edge of the seat stuff as time ticked away but there was a savour point on the thirtieth minute and we prevailed to victory. Its now back to back wins and this is always a positive, however table toppers, Aghabog are next up at home on Saturday evening. The local derby is always mouthwatering and we would expect nothing less this weekend.

Minors

The Minor team had an way game to Latton on Tuesday last. This as been a no nonsense , tough physical encounter in recent times and it was no different. There was nothing given or taken lightly from the off and we did fall behind by three points early on. However, the ship was steadied and a goal with a couple of points gave us a slight advantage at the break by two. The second half opened up more as the legs tired and we were much more direct with the play. Some great scores taken and we eventually closed out the win by four points. Next up is the visit of neighbours Aghabog.

Minor Ladies

Our minor ladies had a home game with Brigid O’Neills on Thursday night. Prior to throw in, Damien Larkin from Comline presented the team with their new jerseys for the coming season. Once again, we must thank Comline for their continued support at all levels. The game was an exciting goal fest as both teams hit net numerous times. However, our girls controlled the game the game for long periods and were more economical with their scores. In the end they just had a little more in the tank and finished the stronger. It must be the new jerseys …. Well done all.

U12 Dev. League

Saturday was a wet day for the visit of Latton for the next couple of games in the Spring League. Despite the rain our youngsters gave it their all in both games and well done to them. The league is giving everybody game time and this is great.
